VS AMARILLO HIGH - 09/21/2007

Questions were answered in Amarillo's Dick Bivins Stadium as the Panthers rolled out a 56-7 shellacking of the Sandies.  After knocking Euless Trinity the week previous, would the Panthers have a flat game?  Quarterback Taylor Byrd and wide receiver Melvis Pride provided that answer early.  The two hooked for touchdown passes of 54-yards, 30-yards, and 40-yards.  Permian buffered a 49-7 lead by halftime and for all practical purposes the game was over.  Picking off passes from Sandie quarterback Landon Brown, the Mojo defense led by Anthony McDowell, Eugene Neboh and Alex Lujan enjoyed taking the ball away from Amarillo three times by air.  The Sandies also coughed the ball up twice.  Taylor Byrd set a new single-game passing yardage record, throwing for 328 yards and four touchdowns - plus scoring two rushing TDs.

FIRST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL MUSEUM

The first ever virtual Permian High School football museum honors a history known the world over and has now opened to the internet community.  If you were a part of the early days of PHS (60s, 70s, or 80s), we would like for you to share your greatest memory with us for inclusion in the museum.  This includes the best game, road trips to Ratliff East, burning the Angry Orange candles in front of the Field House, the countless splinters from W.T. Barrett Stadium, or what it's like being a graduate of Permian High School... unless it's the Original, all you have is imitation.
