NON-DISTRICT IS NOW OVER
What the 3-5A Stats Say.

As the District 3-5A teams enter into the Little Southwest Conference race, there are no clear cut favorites.  As the year began, Midland High and Odessa Permian started in grand fashion with Abilene High, Abilene Cooper, Midland Lee, and Odessa High struggling.  By the third week, the Bulldog and Panther offenses sputtered, while the Cougars and Rebels showed signs of improvement.  As the non-district slate concluded, Cooper and Permian possessed the strongest offensive passing, leaving the potent rushing attacks to Midland and Abilene.

Cooper's Zach Stewart is on track to set district records in the weeks ahead.  Stewart has completed 113 passes out of 195 attempts for over 1,600 yards in five games.  This includes 13 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions.  Midland's Brandon Batch leads the ground attack with 601 yards on 75 carries, including nine rushing touchdowns.  Batch is followed closely by Abilene's Brandon Williams in rushing yards.  Williams has 89 carries for 594 yards, making to the end zone one time.  Odessa's Malcolm Hunt (406 yards), Cooper sophomore A'mon Pimpton (396 yards), and Lee's Corey Petro (382 yards) have all had some success picking up yardage on the ground.

Stewart's main targets have been Ricky Stevenson, who has 461 yards receiving on 29 catches, and Andrew Squyers, pulling in 20 catches for 310 yards.  Daniel Rivas has been the go-to guy for the Bronchos with 22 passes for 400 yards.  Permian has two receivers and two quarterbacks accumulating their passing yards.  Future Red Raider Bront Bird has 20 catches for 416 yards and Lavorick Williams has 15 receptions for 334 yards.
