COMEBACK GIVES EAGLES VICTORY
A touchdown pass from
Spens Lackey to Kortney McDow with 24 seconds remaining in the
game capped off a 20-play, 87-yard drive and gave the Eagles a
24-21 victory over Permian. Both teams entered the contest
undefeated in district and it looked like the Eagles were in
trouble trailing 21-10 at the half. Two sustained drives
in the second half, including the go-ahead catch by McDow gave
the Eagles the win. Abilene High began the fourth quarter
on their own 17 yard line. By the time the Panthers lined
up for their next offensive play, there were 19 seconds left in
the game.
Permian suffered four fumbles in the game, losing one at the AHS
35 and another 12. The Panthers gained 373 total yards to
Abilene High’s 315, but the inability to score in the second
half cost Mojo the game.
