AMARILLO TASCOSA AT PERMIAN
In the home opener, the Panthers gave the Ratliff Stadium crowd a preview of their high-octane offense.  Amarillo Tascosa got a first-hand look, as Permian rolled to a 47-28 victory.  Quarterback Taylor Byrd sparked the Panthers to a 47-28 win in their home opener Friday against Tascosa, passing for 271 yards and three touchdowns and running for two more TDs.  Byrd hit Ryan Rumbaugh for a 71-yard touchdown on the first play of the game and went on to complete 15-of-24 passes.  In last year's 42-17 victory over the Rebels in Amarillo, Byrd threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He had 198 yards and two TDs at halftime in this one.

WICHITA FALLS RIDER AT MIDLAND LEE
The Rebels held a 28-14 lead at the half, but in the fourth quarter Wichita Falls Rider responded to hand Lee a 42-35 loss.  The Rebs scored early in the fourth to take a 35-21 lead, but Rider answered back in a flurry of big-play scores.  Eric Ward returned the ensuing kickoff for a 98-yard touchdown and then caught a 75-yard touchdown pass to tie the score.  The Raiders would score again on a 50-yard blast to give Rider the lead.  Lee drove down the field but failed to convert on fourth-and-goal from the Rider seven-yard line.

ABILENE HIGH AT LUBBOCK MONTEREY
The Eagles and Plainsmen were involved in a game at Lowrey Field that was called after the first half due to bad weather. Because Abilene led 17-0, the Eagles were declared the winner.  AHS had the ball four times in the first half. They scored on three of those possessions, on 7-yard and 3-yard runs by Flye and on a 28-yard field goal by Brandon Hill.  The Plainsmen were able to gain good yardage through the air, but the AHS defense was dominate against the run and limited Monterey to seven yards rushing.

MIDLAND AT EL PASO CORONADO
Midland High's Micah Haynie rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown as the Bulldogs de-feathered the Coronado Thunderbirds 31-6.  Trey Hill opened the scoring for Bulldogs with a 10-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Midland defense allowed Coronado 203 total yards, but kept the T-birds off the scoreboard until a 1-yard run by Diego Davila with 11 seconds remaining in the game.

Abilene Cooper was idle and Odessa High's game with Frenship was cancelled at halftime, with the Tigers winning 7-2.
