As
had been the case throughout the season, penalties and
turnovers hurt the Cougars in their 17-13 loss to
Mansfield Timberview. Cooper lost two fumbles in
the red zone to start the second half and never seemed
to recover. Timberview struck first from 26 yards
out. Cooper answered on its next possession with
its only touchdown of the game when Will Casey hit Timmy
Dixon from 27 yards out. Cooper took its only lead
of the day at 10-7 when kicker Isaac Escobedo connected
from 31 yards out with 6:18 left in the first half.
Cooper answered with another field goal but was unable
to muster much more offense the rest of the way.

The Rebels exploded for 179 yards and four touchdowns on
the ground -- including two of 45 or more yards. All in the first
half of the 35-28 Rebel victory. The Cooper offense still produced
495 total yards. Will Casey threw for 303 yards in the Cougar loss. The teams traded
touchdowns the rest of the half until a Lee touchdown with 11 seconds
left in the second quarter gave the Rebels a 14-point lead heading into
the break.
A'mon Pimpton received his second “Yards 4 Youth Football
Player
of the Week" award. Pimpton was recognized for his
229 offensive yards. On
behalf of Pimpton’s performance, Alltel Wireless is
donating another $500 to Big Country Youth Football.

Scoring 17 points in the first half, Cooper hung on
for a 17-10 victory over Odessa High in their district
opener at Shotwell Stadium. The Cougar
defense forced Odessa to punt after just three plays
and, after a pass interference call that moved Cooper up
to the Bronchos' 28, Isaac Escobedo hit a 39-yard field
goal, just bouncing in after hitting the bottom of the
left goal post. Micah Haile intercepted a pass
inside the red zone when the Bronchos were threatening
to pull to 17-10.

Turnovers will cost you the game. The Cougars found out first hand
as they suffered a 31-14 loss to the Mustangs. Cooper commited two
interceptions, one fumble, two muffed punts, a blocked punt and 10
penalties. A muffed punt by Will
Ford at the Cooper 30 set up Coronado's first score in the second
quarter. On the ensuing possession, a backward pass from Casey to
Kenyon Barnes was dropped and recovered by Matt Hasley at the Cougar 12.
Coronado took advantage of the mistake with a 23-yard field goal by
Lukas Rutter. Of Coronado's five scores, all five followed a
Cooper mistake.
